Bleach – episode 63

Blah. A recap episode with “commentary”, plus a slightly extended and poorly animated yet marginally nice epilogue.
During this episode, I realised that I don’t really watch anime for action. Then I wondered why I actually watch Bleach at all: peer pressure. Damned peers.

The first half of this features some fights between death gods that we supposedly wanted to see. The commentary offered is not particularly enlightening. Cut to one week after Aizen’s escape, and the aftermath in Soul Society is witnessed. It’s a nice way to wrap things up, but it goes a long time …

Still, it’s all worth it because Matsumoto acknowledges that she’s got huge boobs. I can’t say much else, other than that Urahara was received well, that Ichigo received the correct treatment and that Matsumoto was almost scared out of her top. I suppose that the most easily appreciable aspect of all of this was that previously bleak characters are allowed to be the butt of jokes again.

Personally I’d ask for a season break before the next arc, but … do shounen shows go every week indefinitely? Surely there’s a little breathing space in a year?

  1. The one thing I always wonder about Bleach is why I watch it. Like its somewhat original, its got the damsel in distress and we have alot of characters with character.

But I think in the end is just the shear, blatant and unrealistic determination and development of Ichigo that really got me glued.

The episode was disappointing, especially after that magical twist, but it was still entertaining.
